El Dorado County is Open for Business! On July 28, 2009, the El Dorado County (EDC) Board of Supervisors approved the direct transfer of Prop 13 taxes (Proposition 90 & 110) for California residents coming to EDC. For example, if your tax bill is $3,000 per year and you sell your home for $1,000,000 and buy a home in EDC for $500,000, your new tax bill will be the same as your old tax bill—that is, $3,000. This Ordinance should take effect on September 22, 2009. To qualify, you must be 55 years old or older and there are no income qualifications. Prop 110 provides the same benefits but is for the disabled and does not have any age requirement. EDC is the only rural county to provide these benefits.
